at practice, you are not trying to win anything. You slow down whenever you want. you take a break.
There is a reason top players stay out of Doubles at slams nowadays. Singles are too demanding physically.
Leave the Doubles to the specialists or the lower ranked player who have little chance to get to the 2nd week.
Patrick and Venus failed Serena here. Doubles should have been a no no for someone who is getting back after a long absence. Take it easy. Singles should be enough.

To make someone move, that person has to give you soft balls.
Not all balls can be easily redirected. Julia and Pliskova knew to move Serena. They couldn't do it.
Barty tried. But Serena beautifully adjusted.
Hate these stupid Doubles at this age.

Yes but in Singles you are playing one person. If you are better player than that person, you are likely to win.
I watch Venus dump easy volley in the net; DF when Serena could have won the point with a slick ace or a service winner.
Serena was fine before the Doubles match. Fine enough to still be in this event.

When Barty won that 1st set, Serena's haters were celebrating. Serena turned it around. She was ready for anything, off the ground or on serve and return.
Players may serve hard at practice. But they don't have to do it every time, as if they were trying to get out of a 0-30 or 15-40.

Huge opportunity wasted on silly Doubles just like she did in Australia when she twisted her ankle. :( :(

I don't mind if she gets injured playing Singles. But playing Doubles, at slams? after 30? If I am her coach, Hell no. Shouldn't be there. She got plenty of Doubles titles already. No need to waste energy doing that when you are looking for a few more slams.

He should just rest up for the 5th and go for broke.

He is tired. lol lol lol.
The man plays brilliant tennis only in 2 sets, like Benoit Paire. Can't handle the rest. Too bad.

Cecchinato will lose that 5th set. That's really bad.
Djokovic is in my Skan team but I wouldn't mind seeing that Cecchinato dude in the Final. The way Serena eliminated herself, I don't care about my Skan team anymore. :) :)
So p.o, still. Go play the Singles and lose. That I can take. But don't pick up an injury playing Doubles. Very silly at this age.

He might just catch a second wind at a critical juncture in the 5th and snag it.

Noooo.. Benoit Paire never catches a 2nd win. I don't think this dude will. LOL LOL
Talented but no stamina. I'd be glad if he could beat Djokovic.. But I don't see it now. He is lucky he won that TB. It would be over by now.
