Wimby.....Day 1

Post by rex » Jul Sun 02, 2017 7:12 am

Attached is the schedule for Monday:

http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/scores/s ... index.html

Andy opens on Center followed by........
Petra K. v Larsson (a lst for Petra at Wimby, but due to other circumstances),
then Stan the Man v Medvedev

Venus opens on Ct. 1 v Mertens, followed by....
Rafael v Millman then,
Konta v Su-Wei Hsieh

Imo, other matches of note:

Ladies:

Barty v Svitolina
Vondrousova v Peng
Giorgi v Cornet
Sabine v Konjuh
Vika v Bellis (a match w/o a ct. assignment to start after 5 p.m.)
same for Navarro v Bouchard

Men:

Cilic v Kohls
Verdasco v K. Anderson

Yet, there are a lot of good matches on the docket that I haven't mentioned.

However, my viewing for Monday will be:

Venus
Petra K.
Osaka v Tormo
Sabine v Ana K.
Barty v Svitolina at some point and
Ostapenko's match with Sasnovich

Good slate for tomorrow with ESPN carrying the event in HD...

Some R1-matches are supposed to be quarter finals or semi-finals....#ed_op#br#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl#Svitolina vs Barty: 7-5 (first set)....#ed_op#br#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl#And Bary was leading 5-3, and then Svitolina stepped up and showed why she is seeded #4 (and not Barty).#ed_op#br#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl#Now imo, both should be top10, and Barty may even be better, but she is not yet the finished product. A rough diamond. A bit more experience, and this set was hers. But if you serve for the set, and she hits a DF on BP, then that is a sign that she is not yet able to produce her best when it matters.#ed_op#br#ed_cl#in the next game, Svitolina was trailing 15-30 and faced a BP, but she produced a series of winning serves when it mattered.

Previously saw a bit of the match with Janowicz... Jerzy won, and there were glimpses of the attractive tennis that he showed years ago. So maybe there will come an end to this string of injuries and bad luck....

That was a really good match, and Svitolina beating Barty 7-5 7-6.

Last games were messy - again Bart losing the plot... I started to count fr0m 5-5 30-30 o, Set#2: Svitolina had 15 points from that point onwards: 1 winner, 1 winning serve, and THIRTHEEN UE's by Barty....
Ashleigh with too many wild shots, and trying to force it.

Winners: 26 for Svitolina, 40 for Bary... but Barty also had 41 UE's.

Svitolina went 19 times to the net, and won a bit more than 50% of those points... Barty went 35 (!) times to the net, but lost a bit more than 50% of those points.

@Ace2Ace

Karlovic is the original Isner.

Azarenka-Bellis have a good match going on. Both women are hitting the ball really well and going toe to toe. Great rallies. Hopefully Vika can take it to 3.

My scores for Isner or Karlovic in the PGame are most of the time 7-6 or 6-7

After losing to Schiavone, Mandy Minella announced that she is 4.5 months pregnant...

But before her break, she will first compete in doubles at Wimbledon... 😂😂 a woman who loves her sport...
