Wither Mertens withdrawing, and Barty out in her opener, there is not much left to be looking forward to... I guess a final between Swiatek and Bencic is the best we can hope for.

Any provisions in the rules allowing a player to bequeath her ranking to someone else? Barty should explore this.

An Iga/Belinda final is a good final, tho' I think Rogers is coming out of the bottom half of what's left and Iga has a match-up with Collins that's a little iffy. Either player can handle Sanders or Teichmann. So, the event is more than a little okay even with an Iga/Rogers final, for Iga is a fav for me and holding my interest in the event.

Gauff badly lost the first set 2-6 and went down a break (2-4) in the 2nd... it looked like the match was over. Rogers was just too much for the 16-year old.
It was getting late so I went to bed ... and woke up this morning to this result: 2-6 6-4 6-4.
That's her straight 3-setter win in this tournament, always losing the 1st set. That's insane. Congrat !!!
If Sloane had Coco's fighting spirit, ....
